The Panthers may not have had much to celebrate this season, but last Sunday brought a few well-deserved smiles to their faces. In a rainy showdown at the Bank of America Stadium, kicker Eddy Pineiro sealed the deal with a 23-yard field goal as the clock ticked down, triumphing over the Falcons with a 9-7 victory. Remarkably, this marks Pineiro’s second buzzer-beating kick to secure a win for the Panthers this season.
Recognizing his outstanding performance, the NFL proudly announced on Wednesday that Pineiro has been awarded the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. This accolade marks his second time receiving the honor with the Panthers, to complement the additional win he achieved during his time with the Bears.
Pineiro didn’t stop at just one clutch kick, though. In the matchup against Atlanta, he completed two other crucial field goals, solidifying his place as a reliable asset for the team. With a success rate of 24 out of 28 on field goals and an impressive 16 out of 17 on extra points throughout the entire season, Pineiro’s consistent performance is undoubtedly making a difference for the Panthers.
